The Special Needs Registry is free, strictly confidential and voluntary!

The Special Needs Registry will be used by first responders (Police, Fire, Sheriff Officers, Emergency Medical Services, Health Dept. Personnel, and if necessary, the Army National Guard) to assist in relocating our residents prior to an emergency situation.

Why Should You Register?

• To ensure that you will be located by First Responders as quickly as possible.
• To be notified by city officials when an evacuation order has been ordered.
• IT MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE!

An emergency situation can strike our area without warning and it could require moving residents to a safer area.

As part of Atlantic City’s Disaster Preparedness Plan, we have developed a Special Needs Registry for residents who may have difficulty evacuating the city.

Are You Eligible?

You are eligible if you have no place to go during an emergency and have one of the following conditions:

• History of stroke
• Hearing, vision or speech impaired
• Frail elderly
• Walking limitation
• Severe breathing problem
• Wheelchair, cane or walker user
• Heart problem
• Mentally challenged

Remember:
Preparedness begins with You!

In the event of an emergency, all residents should first seek shelter with family or friends.

Special needs shelters are only equipped to provide basic care and assistance.
